Trumps Latest Merchandise Sale $399 Sneaker Line

In the world of fashion and consumerism, every move made by a prominent figure can create waves of excitement and controversy. Such is the case with Donald Trump's latest merchandise sale - a $399 sneaker line that has sparked both admiration and criticism.

The sneakers, adorned with the signature "Trump" logo, have been met with mixed reactions from consumers. Some view them as a symbol of luxury and exclusivity, while others see them as a blatant display of wealth and arrogance.

Trump was met with loud boos as well as cheers at the Philadelphia Convention Center as he introduced what he called the first official Trump footwear.

The shoes, shiny gold high tops with an American flag detail on the back, are being sold as “Never Surrender High-Tops” for $399 on a new website that also sells other Trump-branded shoes and “Victory47” cologne and perfume for $99 a bottle. He'd be the 47th president if elected again.

The website says it has no connection to Trump's campaign, though Trump campaign officials promoted the appearance in online posts.

The launch comes a day after a judge in New York ordered Trump to pay a whopping $355 million in penalties, finding that the former president lied about his wealth for years, scheming to dupe banks, insurers and others by inflating his wealth on financial statements.

The stiff penalty came after Trump was ordered to pay another $83.3 million to the writer E. Jean Carroll for damaging her reputation after she accused him of sexual assault. With interest payments, Trump’s legal debts might now exceed a half-billion dollars — an amount it is unclear he can afford to pay.

Sneaker Con, the venue where Trump debuted the sneaker collection, is an event that started in 2009 and has become one of the premiere events within the broader sneaker culture that has exploded in recent decades.

With the rise of sneaker culture, signature shoes have moved beyond athletes to musicians, actors and more. Some politicians are now thought of as “sneakerheads,” which is slang for people who tend to rock particularly desirable sneakers. Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., reportedly has somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 pairs of collectible sneakers.

Biden has made three trips to Pennsylvania in 2024, delivering his first campaign speech of the year in Montgomery County on Jan. 5, where he said he believed that democracy is on the ballot in November. On Jan. 12, Biden visited small businesses in the Allentown area, and was in Philadelphia on Jan. 15 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day to volunteer at a food bank.

Pennsylvania played a key role in determining the two previous presidential elections and is shaping up to be center stage, once again, for the 2024 race.

So far, 2024 polling shows Biden and Trump in a close hypothetical rematch for the Keystone State’s 19 electoral vote.
