UFC 298: Merab Dvalishvili beats Henry Cejudo

UFC 298 was a night to remember as Merab Dvalishvili shocked the world by defeating the reigning champion Henry Cejudo. The fight was intense from start to finish, with both fighters showcasing their skills and determination. Dvalishvili's relentless pressure and striking ability proved to be too much for Cejudo, who struggled to find an answer to his opponent's relentless attacks.

The victory marked a significant moment in Dvalishvili's career, as he solidified himself as a top contender in the bantamweight division. His impressive performance not only earned him the championship belt but also garnered him respect and admiration from fans and fellow fighters alike.

Merab Dvalishvili added another serious accomplishment on his ever-growing resume with a unanimous decision win over former champion Henry Cejudo on the main card of UFC 298 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Dvalishvili kept Cejudo on his toes early by offering a pair of spinning kicks right out of the gate. Cejudo remained calm and studied the range. Soon enough, Cejudo cracked Dvalishvili with a hard left hand that caused him to stumble backward. A few moments later though, Dvalishvili grabbed a single leg and kicked out the plant foot for a nice takedown, but Cejudo returned to his feet quickly.

Dvalishivili landed a nice punch and charged for a takedown, but Cejudo reversed to take top position. After banking some top control time, Dvalishvili scrambled to a standing clinch against the fence. A few strikes were traded in close, and then after separating before the horn.

Cejudo landed first with a leg kick.  They two stood at distance looking for an opening.  Cejudo pressed forward.  He landed an uppercut that wobbled Dvalishvili.  Dvalishvili recovered and connected with a leg kick.  Dvalishvili quickly latched onto a leg and took Cejudo down.  Cejudo immediately got back to his feet but ate a right hand in the process.  Dvalishvili landed a right hand that caught Cejudo off balance.  Dvalishvili got aggressive for the takedown and Cejudo gained top position.

The win is the latest in a 10-fight win streak for the 33-year-old that's making it harder and harder to deny him a title shot.

In lead-up to his fight with the former flyweight star, Dvalisvhili was vocal about putting up with anymore matchups that don't involve him competing for gold.

"After this, that's it," Dvalishvili said, per Damon Martin of MMA Fighting. "Title fight is next. I'm not going to look at any other bulls— fights. I'm just going to take what is mine. I deserve it."
