‘Situation wasn’t funny’ – Shedeur Sanders responds to brother Shilo’s joke about his speeding tickets

Brothers and banter, it’s like peanut butter and jelly.

Shedeur Sanders has responded to his older brother, Shilo, and the joke he made at his expense, when the Cleveland Browns quarterback got cited for driving 101 mph on a suburban interstate.

Shedeur (L) and Shilo (R) have a very close relationship with one another

The older Sanders brother, who was picked up as an undrafted free agent by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was filmed outside crossing a road in Tampa, where he roasted his brother.

“We got to be careful crossing the street, especially if Shedeur is out here,” Shilo said.

His younger brother responded to that accordingly.

    “Come on bro,” Shedeur said.

“You can’t be trolling your own brother, bro. That was funny though. That was definitely funny when he said that.

“The situation wasn’t funny, but how he said it was.”

Sanders was cited for going 41 mph over the 60 mph speed limit, which is no joking matter.

It was Sanders’ speeding ticket was his second in a span of mere weeks, having already been pulled over earlier this month for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone in his Dodge TRX pickup truck.

He clearly didn’t learn his lesson.

And hardly took accountability when questioned about it.

Sanders still has a lot of growing up to doGetty Sanders has a QB battle on his hands in ClevelandGetty

Sanders acknowledged his mistake and claimed he learned from the consequences of his actions, yet he deflected the blame away from his immaturity by stating that he was “just a little boy.”

“I’m just a little boy,” Sanders said.

“I made some wrong choices, and I’ve got to own up to them.

    “You know, I’ve made some not great choices… I learned. I learned… I learned.”

    Not exactly franchise quarterback stuff.

The 23-year-old still has a lot of room to grow, both on and off the field. He is currently locked into a four-man competition to be QB1 in Cleveland.

Quarterbacks of all-time – Can anyone better Tom Brady?

Wide receivers of all-time – Does Randy Moss or Jerry Rice come out on top?

Running backs of all-time – Stacking Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and more

Tight ends of all-time – How does Travis Kelce compare?

The speeding tickets aren’t going to help his cause, but he will still have the opportunity to earn it on the field.

It is a wide open competition.

With incumbent starter, Deshaun Watson, presumably out for the year, the QB1 spot is up for grabs, and while it looks to be veteran Joe Flacco’s job to lose, it’s by no means a given.

Sure, Flacco has the best chance to be named Cleveland’s starter, as he’s been in head coach Kevin Stefanski’s system before, even leading the Browns to the playoffs just two seasons ago, but he is also 40 years old.

The Browns drafted Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel this spring for a reason.

They traded for Kenny Pickett for a reason.

Time will tell how it unfolds, but what’s certain is that if Sanders wants to be taken seriously, he needs to tighten it up off the field.

And that means less banter with his brother, even if it is harmless.
