The Arizona Wildcats' thrilling victory over the USC Trojans with a score of 43-41 will be remembered as one of the most memorable college football games in recent history. The game showcased the resilience and determination of both teams, providing fans with an unforgettable experience.
From the beginning, it was clear that this matchup would be a battle to remember. Both teams displayed exceptional skill and strategy, making it difficult to predict the outcome until the very end. The Wildcats' offense was on fire, led by their star quarterback who threw for over 300 yards and four touchdowns. USC's defense put up a valiant effort but struggled to contain Arizona's explosive offense.
From the very beginning, both teams displayed exceptional skill and determination. The game was a back-and-forth battle, with each team taking turns leading the scoreboard. Arizona's offense was relentless, with their quarterback delivering precise passes and their running backs making impressive gains. USC's defense, on the other hand, showcased their strength by intercepting crucial passes and stopping Arizona's running game.
Coming off a three-point loss at Washington State, the Wildcats (13-4, 4-2 Pac-12) overcame a nearly seven-minute stretch without a field goal to lead by 10 at halftime and stretched it to 19 midway through the second half.
Arizona had a second straight subpar shooting night, hitting 40% from the field, but scored 22 second-chance points off 21 offensive rebounds. The Wildcats are 15-0 coming off a loss under Lloyd and have won 13 of their last 14 games against USC at McKale Center.
The Trojans (8-10, 2-5) arrived in the desert on a two-game losing streak and missing their top two scorers. Boogie Ellis was out for the second straight game with a hand injury and freshman guard Isaiah Collier had hand surgery last week.
Arizona came out with its hair on fire, making seven of nine shots and getting shorthanded USC into early foul trouble. But after KJ Lewis scored with 15:13 left in the first half to make it 19-9 the Wildcats missed 10 shots in a row before Johnson drained a corner 3 with 8:26 to go.
The Trojans only made two more baskets after that, with a 7-0 Arizona run helping to get the lead to double figures at the break.
USC couldn’t gain any monument in the second half, and eight turnovers in the final 10 minutes hindered any chance of victory for the Trojans late in the game.
The Trojans have a chance to finish the three-game road stretch on a high note with a visit to Arizona State (10-7, 4-2) on Saturday at 11 a.m. PST.
