Teams looking to build momentum as they head to the bowl season meet on Saturday when the Texas A&M Aggies battle the No. 14 LSU Tigers in a key SEC West matchup. The Aggies (7-4, 4-3 SEC), who upset LSU 38-23 a year ago, are looking to finish the regular season on a three-game winning streak. The Tigers (8-3, 5-2 SEC), who are looking to secure at least a share of second place in the division, will look to post their 10th win in their last 13 meetings with Texas A&M. The Aggies, however, have won three of the past five meetings.
LSU football takes on Texas A&M in its final game of the regular season in an early kickoff on Senior Day.
Both teams come into the game coming off back-to-back wins and both secured blowout wins last week. Texas A&M is without its head coach, Jimbo Fisher, who was fired on Nov. 12. Defensive line coach Elijah Robinson is serving as interim head coach.
Linebacker Greg Penn III intercepted Henderson, handing the ball back to LSU's offense and it took advantage. The Tigers scored a touchdown on a beautiful throw to the corner of the end zone from Jayden Daniels to Brian Thomas Jr., taking their first lead of the second half, 28-24.
LSU had been taking Harold Perkins off of the field on third downs to go to the nickel slot, and after it proved to be ineffective, the staff elected to put him as a spy late in the third quarter. A player who is a proven game changer, his usage has been a concern all season long with the Tigers utilizing his skill set too late on Saturday.
Perkins ended the day with nine total tackles and 1.5 tackle for loss, handling business when called upon and it carried into the fourth quarter when this program needed him most. A tackle for loss and crucial sack on back-to-back possessions gave the Tigers life down the stretch to pull away late.
The competition gets much tougher on Saturday as they take on a very good Tigers team.
The Aggies have struggled with the top teams in the SEC this year and are just 4-3 in conference play.
They have yet to win a ranked game, but have another chance against the Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
