Oregon State Beavers beat Oregon Ducks (31-7)

With No. 6 Oregon football’s goals in sight, the Ducks’ postseason hopes hinge yet again on an end-of-year battle against in-state rival Oregon State at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Autzen Stadium on FOX.

The No. 16 Beavers won last year’s game in Corvallis, 38-34, overcoming a three-touchdown deficit in the second half to knock the Ducks out of the Pac-12 title race. The loss has driven Oregon players to "remember what happened" as they prepare for this year's matchup.

At the moment, the 127th game between the Ducks and Beavers is also the last scheduled contest between the two in a rivalry that's been played in three different centuries and continuously since 1945 with many memorable games.

The two Oregon teams have long been rivals and this year’s battle carries even more intrigue for the Ducks as they compete for Pac 12 Championship, College Football Playoffs and the Heisman Trophy. The Ducks are also coming off an impressive winning streak, most recently defeating Arizona State 49-13 last week

The Beavers get completions of 9, 7 and 6 yards. Then Martinez runs for 3 yards. Uiagalelei runs for 3. DJ’s pass falls incomplete. On fourth and 4, Uiagalelei’s pass is incomplete. And that should do it. The Ducks will win it 31-7 and advance to the Pac-12 championship game for a rematch against Washington. The Beavers will fall to 8-4 (5-4 Pac-12).

Oregon goes three-and-out and punts it back to the Beavers. Oregon State takes over at its 11-yard line after Silas Bolden fair catches it.

The Ducks jumped out to a 14-point lead after Oregon State appeared to get back into the game just before halftime. The Beavers capped a 15-play drive with a 9-yard TD pass from DJ Uiagalelei to Silas Bolden with 54 seconds to go in the second quarter to cut Oregon’s lead to 14-7.

But the Ducks went 78 yards in five plays and 40 seconds as Nix found an open Troy Franklin for a 41-yard TD pass with eight seconds to go before the half. It was a 21-7 Ducks lead at the break.

During last year’s loss, Martinez had 103 rushing yards before an injury took him out of the game in the third quarter.

Since Oregon will be moving to the Big Ten conference next year this might be the last matchup of this in-state rivalry, but with some possible non-conference game changes in the years to come, the rivalry could still go on.
