Canadian small business confidence lowest since April 2020

The confidence of Canadian small businesses has dipped to its lowest level since the onset of the pandemic in April 2020, according to the latest Business Barometer released by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB). The 12-month small business confidence index dropped by 1.5 points to 47.2 in October, measured on a scale between 0 and 100. This number marks the third lowest reading in nearly 15 years. An index above 50 means owners expecting their business’s performance to be stronger over the next three or 12 months outnumber those expecting weaker performance.
