Chiefs vs. Jets 23-20 Week 4

Patrick Mahomes started strong, ended fast and overcame two interceptions as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the New York Jets, 23-20, in a "Sunday Night Football" game that drew new fans interested in Taylor Swift's attendance.

The prime-time game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, drew a host of A-list celebrities, led by Swift, the rumored girlfriend of star Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce.

He had a relatively quiet night by his lofty standards, catching six passes for 60 yards. Kelce did haul in two grabs for 15 yards on the Chiefs drive that ended in Harrison Butker's 26-yard field goal, which broke a 20-20 tie early in the fourth quarter.

Leading 23-20 out of the two-minute warning, quarterback Patrick Mahomes could have scored a touchdown. Instead, he slid down at the two-yard line, good enough for a first down. The Jets had already burned their timeouts.

The game had plenty of drama — unpredictable performances, a comeback battle, Aaron Rodgers' return to the Jets and Pop icon Taylor Swift, in the stands for the second consecutive week to watch Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce.

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs will be close to Taylor Swift's home when they play the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The pop singer, who is rumored to be romantically involved with the Chiefs tight end, made a headline-grabbing appearance at Kelce's last game. According to TMZ, Swift is once again planning to be in the stands supporting the Chiefs (and Kelce)

New York's offense has been uneven over the first three weeks, but young skill players lead the way for a potentially dangerous group. Running back Breece Hall is averaging 5.9 yards per carry in 2023, and he put up 5.8 yards per carry and 97.2 yards from scrimmage per game as a rookie in 2022. On the outside, wide receiver Garrett Wilson won the 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year award with 83 catches for 1,103 yards, and he has touchdown grabs already in 2023.

From there, the Jets have a talented and stout defense that finished in the top four of the NFL in scoring defense, total defense, and passing defense last season. In 2023, New York is giving up only 20.3 points per game and 1.61 points per drive, with the Jets giving up only 4.8 yards per play and 3.7 yards per carry. The Jets have yet to give up a rushing touchdown this season, and opponents have converted only 37.5% of red zone trips into touchdowns
