Google's 25th birthday how it starts.

September 27, 2023, is big occasion in the tech world – Google's 25th birthday. The journey of this American multinational tech company had humble beginnings and the entire journey is nothing short of remarkable.

In the mid-'90s, two bright minds, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, crossed paths as doctoral students in Stanford University's computer science program. Little did they know that their collaboration would change the digital landscape of the world forever. They started a research project initially called "BackRub," which eventually turned into the search engine we now know as Google.

To find them, simply search, hum or translate "happy birthday" on Google's products Wednesday, and confetti will rain down across Google's screen.

Google has also created a special Google Doodle for its birthday, the temporary alteration of Google's regular logo that the search engine does for different holidays, events or to honor notable individuals.

As per information provided on Google's website, Sergey Brin and Larry Page first met at Stanford University in January 1997. This meeting took place when Sergey Brin, who was already a Ph.D. student at the university, was asked to take Larry Page around the campus as Page was contemplating Stanford for his studies. And, Google's journey started.

A year later, the two began working together, in the confines of their dormitory rooms, to develop a search engine. And, they successfully created their first prototype. Their invention began to attract the attention of prominent investors in Silicon Valley, and in August 1998, Andy Bechtolsheim, co-founder of Sun Microsystems, gave a $100,000 cheque to Sergey Brin and Larry Page, and Google Inc. was officially born. With this vital investment, the newly formed team moved out from their dormitories to their first office, which happened to be a garage located in the suburbs of Menlo Park, California.

Google's current CEO is Sundar Pichai, who last month penned a note to mark the company's birthday. He looked back at the journey of the company, its role in transforming technology, and the path towards the future. He expressed his gratitude to the users, employees and partners who have been a part of Google's success. He also expressed appreciation for the constant challenge to innovate and the dedication of past and present Googlers.
