Scotland’s Ex-Leader Nicola Sturgeon Arrested in Party Finances Probe SEVEN HOURS of questioning

SNP leader Hamza Yousef is facing calls to suspend Sturgeon after she spent more than seven hours being questioned by police before issuing a statement denying any wrongdoing and describing her “devastation” at her arrest. You have to feel for the current SNP leader who, with impeccable timing, was busy telling the Beeb’s Laura Kuenssberg of his friendly chats with his predecessor, saying she was in a “good place,” minutes before news of her arrest broke. Angus MacNeil became the first SNP MP to call for Sturgeon’s suspension. The aftershocks from Nicola Sturgeon’s arrest in the SNP finances investigation and Boris Johnson’s resignation as an MP are likely to reverberate for some time, despite the best efforts of Yousef and Sunak to focus on their own agendas.

After being arrested for seven hours for the investigation, she released at 5 PM last night.  Ms. Sturgeon says she will take one or two days off from her role as a politician to think about what has happened, but she then plans to return to parliament to represent the people who voted for her in Glasgow Southside. Police Scotland is investigating what happened to the money, or funds, people gave to the Scottish National Party (SNP) that she led.

. Nicola Sturgeon, the politician who was first minister of Scotland, says she is innocent after being questioned by police about money given to her party.

She was arrested on Sunday morning and was later released without charge, which means she hasn't officially been accused of any crime.

Ms. Sturgeon, who was the head of the Scottish government for more than eight years until March, say that she was 'innocent of any wrongdoing,' adding: 'Obviously, given the nature of this process, I cannot go into detail, I know that this ongoing investigation is difficult for people, and I am grateful that so many continue to show faith in me and appreciate that I would never do anything to harm either the SNP or the country.'

SNP MP Angus McNeil tweeted: 'This soap opera has gone far enough, Nicola Sturgeon suspended others from the SNP for an awful lot less.

Scottish Conservatives chairman Craig Hoy said: 'Nicola Sturgeon and other senior SNP figures – including Hamza Yousef – must co-operate fully with this police investigation and commit to full transparency surrounding it.
