Nearly 5,000 National Guard troops from four states are now in Florida to help in the aftermath devastation of Hurricane Ian, the military branch revealed Thursday. The Guardsmen, which come from Florida, Louisiana, New York and Tennessee, will help using more than 1,300 ground assets including vehicles, tankers, wreckers and boats as well as 23 helicopters for search and rescue operations, the Guard said in a statement.“Over the next 48 hours, the National Guard is focused on the safety and well-being of everyone in the affected communities, including its own personnel,” according to the statement.
