On May 30, Swift announced that she now owns her entire discography after Scooter Braun's company infamously sold it to Shamrock Holdings in 2020. She reportedly purchased the masters of her first six albums for $360 million, per Billboard.

I really get to say these words: All of the music I've ever made... now belongs... to me," Swift revealed on her website. "And all my music videos. All the concert films. The album art and photography. The unreleased songs. The memories. The magic. The madness. Every single era. My entire life's work."

Swift and King's friendship goes back years. In August 2024, King spoke about Swift during a virtual fundraising event for the Swifties for Kamala [Harris] coalition.
