This Is the 1 Way To Accentuate Your Waist Over 50, According to Celebrity Stylists ...Saudi Arabia

Applying any fashion trend to your own life can be tricky, because not everybody has the same body shape or proportions. But no matter what you look like or what age you are, anybody can accentuate their waist (or even create one!) to look and feel the best in their clothing. Parade consulted two celebrity stylists to learn the best way for women over 50 to accentuate their waist. As a bonus, these tips should also work for most women, regardless of age.Samantha Brown, who has styled for the likes of What Not To Wear's Stacy London, is a celebrity stylist and bestselling author of Dressing Up. Sara Acevedo is also a celebrity stylist who's worked with stars like Marisol Nichols, Constance Wu and more. Both of them agree that accentuating your waist can be a great fashion trick, but what's most important to know first is where your waist actually is. That way you know exactly where to draw the eye.Brown says your waist is typically "two to three inches" beneath your ribs, though that's not a hard and fast rule. As Acevedo notes, it's not always as simple as just finding the natural waist curve, because some people's waists can curve pretty high. To find a happy medium you can try to measure "midway between [your] hip and under bust," Acevedo says. She also recommends accentuating "at least four inches" under the bust to avoid shortening your torso too much.Once you've figured out your own waist placement, it's time to accentuate it.Related: 7 Best Dresses for Women Over 50, According to a Celebrity Stylist

Both Brown and Acevedo are big fans of wearing something with an A-line silhouette (like a skirt or dress) to help accentuate your waist. Brown calls it "the most universally flattering shape," because it adds volume to your lower half helping to "highlight or fake a waist."This silhouette is called "A-line" because it flares out at the bottom in the shape of the letter "A," and it's especially helpful for anyone who struggles with confidence about their midsection, Acevedo says. "Focus on how you can get a larger proportion somewhere else," she adds. "If you have more volume on the bottom or the top, naturally your waist is still going to look smaller."Some of these stylists' favorite brands include J.Crew, Mango, Zara and Madewell, all of which have a plethora of chic A-line garments to choose from. 2. Cropped Tops and High Waisted Pants

If you wear pants more often than dresses or skirts, you can still accentuate your waist. Brown recommends trying a cropped top (like a button-down) with a pair of high-waisted trousers. As a bonus, Brown says that "by highlighting your waist a little bit on the higher side, you're also elongating your legs."

4. Use Color and Texture

Brown says that the color, shine and texture of clothing can also help accentuate your waist. "Color and shine is always going to draw the eye, whereas dark matte neutrals will detract," she explains. "So if you want highlight your waist, but let's say minimize a lower belly or minimize hips, lighter colors on top, darker colors on bottom."

5. Grab a Belt

What *Not* To Do

Whatever you do, don't try to completely hide your waist, because it's not going to have the effect you think it will. "Contrary to what a lot of people think," you don't want to wear "something loose and tented to camouflage a midsection," Brown warns.Acevedo agrees, saying that it's a "mistake" to "try to hide the waist." She adds, "Don't do loose, flowy tops" or it can make you look disproportionate or even larger through the waist. It's all about drawing the eye to your top and/or bottom through volume, proportion, color and so on to accentuate your waist and make you feel your very best!
