The Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry, Nidal al-Shaar, issued a decision to adopt the Syrian Economic Forum for Development as a source for information, consultations, and studies related to economic affairs.

The minister stated in the decision issued today, Tuesday, May 13, that coordination will take place between the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Economic Forum for Development through a working team to be determined later.

The Syrian Economic Forum for Development, according to its self-description on its official website, is a non-political institution licensed by the Syrian Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, comprising a selection of Syrian businessmen, experts, economists, and ambitious youth.

The forum aims to unify the efforts of Syrian competencies both inside and outside the country to achieve sustainable economic development, support reconstruction, and attract local and international investments. It also focuses on empowering youth to become future leaders in building a modern and contemporary economy.

The forum covers 17 sectors to meet all needs, most notably relief, health, education, energy, technology, communications, housing, transportation, tourism, and others.

The Syrian president during the transitional phase, Ahmed al-Sharaa, previously met with a delegation that included several members of the forum in mid-February, which included the Minister of Finance, Mohammed Yosr Bernieh, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria (CBS), Abdul Qader Hasriyeh, prior to their current appointments, along with several businessmen including Imad al-Gharawati, Muhammad al-Shaer, Nour al-Din Samha, and the legal expert Joumana Riyadh Seif, among others.

The Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry, Nidal al-Shaar, announced via his page on the Facebook platform on April 26 that researchers and experts had been appointed as “executive consultants” in the ministry.

Al-Shaar emphasized that the selection was made based on criteria of competence and experience, aimed at building a knowledge base that supports innovation and sustainable growth.

The new consultants have extensive experience in economics, investment, and manufacturing, and their tasks will include providing technical advice, analyzing adopted policies, studying industrial initiatives, and ensuring their alignment with development goals.

The specialized advisory team will collaborate with the ministry’s team to formulate economic strategies that stimulate investment and prepare periodic reports containing recommendations based on accurate data and analyses.

The Syrian Ministry of Economy and Industry is counting on the role of the specialized advisory team to support the Syrian industry and create job opportunities.
