The IPL 2025 was suspended with immediate effect after the game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals got called off midway at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. Keeping in mind the tensions, the governing body decided to postpone the league with immediate effect for one week.

As per the reports in RevSportz, the IPL 2025 is all set to begin from May 17 or 18, if things go to plan. It is learned that the BCCI will be planning to keep more double-headers for the remaining 12 group league matches so that they make up for the lost time due to the cross-border tensions.

Overseas players might not return for IPL 2025

The reports in RevSportz suggested that one overseas batter of Royal Challengers Bengaluru has already informed his franchise that he is unlikely to return. Also, Josh Hazlewood is expected to miss the league due to the shoulder niggle, and some other franchises might also face the same problems.

Talking about overseas players not coming back, the CEO confirmed that they will not push anyone and will leave the decision to them, as it is a force majeure. Speaking to RevSportz, he said:

Notably, ahead of the IPL 2025, the BCCI made a strong statement related to foreign players withdrawing from the tournament after getting picked in an auction. The governing body stated that if such things happen, then the player will be banned for two seasons.
