FORD has issued a grim warning to consumers as the famous brand has already faced a $1.5 billion loss this year.

President Donald Trump’s auto tariffs are in full effect and a host of the world’s biggest car brands are already feeling the squeeze – including the Blue Oval.

However, this week, Ford said they believe their overall US car prices won’t rise significantly as a result, while it seems many of their rivals in the industry have been hit a lot harder.

As reported by CNN, Ford CFO Sherry House said the company expects car prices to edge up 1% to 1.5% in the second half of 2025 due to tariffs on both imported cars and auto parts.

Ford is one of many automakers working to determine how much Trump’s tariffs will cost them, with the current impact including a 25% levy on all imported vehicles, as well as a similar tariff on most auto parts.

This may result in carmakers pulling back on incentives for buyers, according to House, while new models sold in the fall could boast higher sticker prices.

House did not disclose details about Ford’s own pricing plans but said the company expects a sharp overall drop in sales later this year across the industry.

This follows a rush from drivers to purchase vehicles ahead of the tariffs coming into play in April.

In some respite, Ford will likely see fewer effects from tariffs than its rival General Motors.

GM has already warned shareholders of a possible $4 billion to $5 billion hit this year.

For Ford, this is thanks to the fact that more than 80% of the cars and trucks it sells to US customers are manufactured at American assembly plants – more than most other car manufacturers.

CEO Jim Farley also recently told CNN that Ford would extend an “employee pricing” offer through July 4 – but couldn’t promise the offer would continue beyond that date.

Currently, Ford is selling off its inventory of imported vehicles that arrived before the tariffs took effect last month.

This comes as Ford’s most iconic pocket-sized car, the legendary Fiesta, could be reborn with the help of Volkswagen, claims its brand chief.

Seven generations of the Ford Fiesta graced roadways from 1976 until its discontinuation in 2023.

Despite once being the top-selling car in Europe, Ford discontinued production as part of a $2billion investment to upgrade their Cologne factory to the first “carbon neutral” car factory in the world.

But following the roaring success of the Ford and Volkswagen partnership that gave birth to the Ford Explorer and Capri models, the classic car might be making a comeback.

Elsewhere, Nissan drivers have just weeks left to get a crucial check done on their vehicle before a free program is axed.

The Japanese car maker is retiring several services and rolling out a new structure – which they believe will simplify operations and improve predictability.

An initiative to be known as Nissan One is set to launch on June 3.

But it also sees three long-standing programs – Quality Growth (QGP), Retail Development Fund (RDF), and Invest in the Best (IITB) – being eliminated or reshaped.

Worse still, Nissan is also pausing its complimentary Maintenance Care on new ICE vehicles produced after May 1, as well as on EVs starting with model year 2026.

Honda Ridgeline Review

Ben Shimkus, the Automotive Reporter for The U.S. Sun, drove the Honda Ridgeline for a weekend. Here are his thoughts on the pickup.

Drivers looking for a capable off-road truck with calm pavement vibes don’t need to look much further than the Ridgeline.

The pickup is comfortable on city streets with ample leg room and storage capacity.

Drivers can also expect standard Honda practicality and resale value.

The biggest knock on the truck is its social acceptance in the truck world.

Truck purists are apt not to give the pickup its flowers. I think that’s a shame.

Here are the specs on our Ridgeline TrailSport:

$46,375 MSRP plud destination charge 18 mpg city – 23 mpg highway – 20 mpg overall (though, our truck exceeded these numbers) 280-horsepower V-6 Active safety features including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring Huge storage and new tech in the infotainment and instrument cluster
