We were in store for a fantastic high-scoring thriller at the Eden Gardens before rain played spoilsport. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Punjab Kings (PBKS) clash was called off after seeing a total of 21 overs being bowled. Had their been four more overs, the IPL 2025 fans would’ve had a result. But it wasn’t to be. Fascinatingly, a new player was seen joining the PBKS camp before the match. Apart from this, today, it will be a double-header, with Delhi Capitals hosting the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Before that clash, DC have a massive news coming in. Also, why did Suresh Raina blame CSK? Catch all this and more below.

Suresh Raina blames CSK?

Suresh Raina isn’t holding back when it comes to Chennai Super Kings’ struggles this season. According to Raina, CSK’s poor performance isn’t entirely MS Dhoni’s fault, as many believe. Instead, he points fingers at the team’s management, particularly Kashi Viswanathan and Rupa Gurunath, who handle squad selection and auctions. Raina questions why high-priced players aren’t delivering and praises Dhoni’s dedication despite being 43. With CSK’s playoff hopes fading fast, Raina thinks Dhoni might be rethinking the team’s strategy and player choices. Only time will tell if more changes are coming to the CSK squad. Read more here.

New PBKS player?

Punjab Kings have recruited Tanush Kotian, a talented all-rounder from Mumbai, as a net bowler ahead of their match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Kotian, who impressed in domestic competitions, will help PBKS prepare for the teams’ potent spin attack. It came as a huge surprise when Kotian got unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction, having played for the Rajasthan Royals before. PBKS batting has struggled lately, and skipper Shreyas Iyer, who knows Kotian from domestic cricket, might have played a role in his recruitment. Kotian recently earned a call-up to the Indian squad for the BGT and had a strong Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign, taking 9 wickets with a 7.44 economy rate. Read more here.

Good news for Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals are optimistic about Faf du Plessis’ return ahead of their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The South African opener has been out with an injury for five games, but teammate Jake Fraser-McGurk believes he’s likely to be available for selection. Du Plessis was sen working hard in the nets, and his return could be a game-changer for DC, who have a perfect record of 3-0 when he’s played this season. It’ll be interesting to see him face his former team, RCB. DC’s record without du Plessis is 3-2, but his presence could boost their chances. Read more here.

This initiative follows the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir and aims to prioritise national security. Meanwhile, BCCI officials Sourav Ganguly and Rajeev Shukla have expressed strong views on India’s cricketing ties with Pakistan, stating that bilateral cricket between the two nations won’t resume due to security concerns. However, India will continue to participate in ICC events with Pakistan. The anti-drone system started with the KKR vs PBKS IPL 2025 match. Read more here.
