‘Broken his jaw’ – Conor Benn gives reaction to news Chris Eubank Jr is hospitalised after epic fight ...Middle East

Conor Benn has wished Chris Eubank Jr ‘a speedy recovery’ as the latter was rushed to hospital after their 12-round war.

Eubank Jr defeated Benn on Saturday night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to settle their differences in a British boxing all-time classic.

The bout came after four years of their own personal rivalry, and a 35-year family feud from their fathers’, Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr, original battles in 1990 and 1993.

Both men left it all in the ring, and although it was Eubank Jr who looked the more damaged of the pair he was announced as the winner via unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the contest 116-112.

‘Next Gen’ was expected to attend his media duties after the fight, but on medical advice, he was taken to hospital in an ambulance and given little time to celebrate his career-defining win.

Benn did make his post-fight press conference and had no bad words for his bitter rival.

“I wish him well,” he said. “I know he’s gone to the hospital – I’ve heard he’s got a broken jaw.

“So I wish him a speedy recovery. I also want to thank [Chris Eubank] Sr for turning up because this really is a family affair, and it wouldn’t have been what it was without Sr there.”

Eubank Sr made the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium erupt when he made a shock appearance for his son’s win.

Midway through Ireland’s Aaron McKenna’s eventual win over Liverpudlian Liam smith, the big screen showed Eubank Sr getting out of a black SUV and entering the arena with his son.

talkSPORT pundits were left gobsmacked, and Adam Catterall even compared the scenes to a WWE WrestleMania event.

Legendary Irish boxer Steve Collins, who beat both fathers’ in his heyday, added: “They’ve fooled the world.

“Did they plan this? What a promotional masterstroke. What a stroke they pulled tonight.”

Ahead of the fight, Eubank Sr called his son a ‘disgrace,’ and told him to face the fact he ‘doesn’t condone’ his actions.

The 58-year-old even went as far as to claim that Eubank Jr should have his licence revoked for making a joke of the sport.

However, the pair seem to have now made the first step towards repairing their complicated relationship, which became estranged after the death of Eubank Jr’s brother, Sebastian, in Dubai in 2021.

As many expected, Benn came out full of energy and swinging in the opening rounds and it looked as if he may have put Eubank Jr away early.

However, Eubank Jr, who has 14 more pro fights than Benn, showed his wealth of experience in the squared circle and remained on the outside, using his naturally bigger frame to pick apart his opponent.

Then, in what was a truly phenomenal final two rounds, Eubank Jr landed a whopping 109 of his 213 punches thrown as both men give it one final push and the London crowd roared.

Eubank Jr was busted open above his right eye when the pair clashed heads, but he collapsed to his knees in celebration when Michael Buffer named him the winner.

talkSPORT commentator John Rawling said: “What an epic, it’s one to compare to the first fight between their fathers.”

Collins added: “This has been one of the best fights I’ve seen in a long time, that last round was like a movie.”

Another battles seems like the most plausible outcome between the two rivals, but Benn will have the say, as a rematch clause is in place if he wants another go at Eubank Jr
