TACO Bell lovers are going wild over plans for a brand new venue opening up at an old Kentucky fast food site.
Eagle-eyed fan Jamie posted a picture of a building in Louisville under renovation, featuring a purple roadside banner proudly announcing: “Coming Soon”.

“It’s an extensive renovation, but it’s kind of surprising Taco Bell didn’t just completely tear down this building and put up a new one here, especially given that they’ve actually torn down even newer buildings that were built as a Taco Bell in the 90s here to build a new Taco Bell on the same site.”
The nostalgic post quickly sparked comments from fellow fast food lovers, with one writing: “I love when businesses do this.
“I don’t like waste. I also like the nostalgic stories that can be told.”
The Sun has contacted Taco Bell for more information on the new branch.
The transformation comes as the Tex-Mex giant continues a nationwide shift, closing some of its most iconic restaurants – including the beloved retro-style branches built during the brand’s early expansion in the 60s and 70s.
Fans recently said an emotional farewell to one of the chain’s oldest surviving mission-style locations in Scottsdale, Arizona, which dished out tacos for six decades.
Taco Bell #31 on East McDowell Road – one of the first stores ever built – closed for good on April 12 after a long run that saw it serve 24 hours a day and even launch the 2024 Decades Menu.
In a nod to the past and future, it’s being replaced by a brand-new, modern Taco Bell next door, opening the same day the original shuts down.
With just seven mission-style Taco Bells left across the country, die-hard fans are mourning what they call the soul of the brand.
“All og Taco Bell buildings should be historically protected,” one Facebook user demanded.
Another slammed the sleek redesigns: “The new Taco Bell style should be criminal.”
Others took their love offline and made pilgrimages to snap farewell selfies, film videos, and grab one last bite of history.
“We found out this store was closing, and as a Taco Bell fan, you can’t miss it,” said Stephanie Soriano, who traveled from Michigan to pay tribute.
Actor and comedian Joel McHale even suggested the iconic Scottsdale spot should be preserved “brick by brick” in the Smithsonian.
Meanwhile, Taco Bell is bringing back one of its most in-demand items – and fans will need to move fast.
The chain’s crispy chicken nuggets, which vanished from menus just days after their December debut, are returning nationwide starting Wednesday.
The spicy snack is back at all US locations for a limited run, part of Taco Bell’s bigger plan to make crispy chicken a permanent fixture by 2026.
The company, based in Irvine, California, confirmed the return in an April 17 announcement.
Beginning April 24, the fan-favorite item will return to Taco Bell menus nationwide for an eight-week run.
“The demand for our nuggets was off the charts,” said Taylor Montgomery, Taco Bell’s chief marketing officer.
