Mel Kiper has been a part of the NFL draft at ESPN for 42 years. He has provided fans with some of the most memorable moments in draft history, especially his rivalry with the Indianapolis Colts’ general manager Bill Tobin in 1994.
The biggest story of this year’s draft, the first two nights, has been the fall of Shedeur Sanders, who is still available to be drafted when Round 4 starts. Kiper has long been a fan of Sanders, and he believed he should have been drafted very early in the first round.
The Seattle Seahawks took a quarterback in this draft, but it was Jalen Milroe. When that happened, Kiper had had enough, and he ranted about Sanders still being available.
“To have a quarterback with the kind of ability he showed under duress, accurate, decision-maker, tough,” Kiper said. “This to me is what I think they perceive as — you talk about cocky to confident. Arrogant, or charismatic.
“There’s not going to be a show. There isn’t going to be a circus with Shedeur Sanders. Deion Sanders was one of the hardest-working players in the history of this game. He was beloved in every locker room. Shedeur Sanders will bring the same thing. He will galvanize. He is going to be a hell of a quarterback in this league.”

The fall of Sanders is 1 of the most shocking in NFL Draft history, and Kiper isn’t the only ESPN media member to lose his mind about Sanders still being available. Stephen A. Smith also went on his own rant, though Smith’s came via his personal social media account.
