AMERICANS can cash in on a payout of up to $500 from a $2.5 million data breach settlement.

The money is being handed out by Professional Finance Co. (PFC) to settle claims it failed to prevent a 2022 data breach.

Professional Finance Co. is a debt management company that collects debt on behalf of healthcare providers, retailers, banks and other businesses.

The company agreed to a $2.5 million class action lawsuit to resolve accusations about a 2022 data breach.

Sensitive consumer information was reportedly compromised by an unauthorized third party in February 2022.

Affected consumers took legal action and argued PFC could have prevented the data breach through appropriate cybersecurity measures.

The company has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $2.5 million to settle claims.

Consumers can receive up to $500 for out-of-pocket expenses related to the data breach – with a document needed as proof.

Expenses include bank fees, credit expenses, fraudulent charges, professional fees and more.

Individuals whose Social Security numbers were compromised in the data breach can receive an extra $50 and 24 months of free credit monitoring.

Even those whose Social Security numbers were not compromised can benefit from 24 months of free identity theft monitoring.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is April 17.

The deadline for submitting a valid claim form is April 25.

Meanwhile, Americans are to get a huge payout of up to $12.5k from a $9.95million data breach settlement.

The money is being handed out by National Student Clearinghouse to settle claims against it in a class action lawsuit.

National Student Clearinghouse is a non-profit organization that helps students, schools and employers access educational data.

The key date to remember is May 26, because this is the deadline for submitting a valid claim form.

Americans can also get up to $4,000 from a $7.5 million data breach settlement.

PostMeds Inc. is transferring the money to settle claims it compromised sensitive information in a data breach in 2023.

PostMeds, Inc., which does business as Truepill, provides online pharmacy delivery services.

The deadline for submitting a valid claim form is May 12.

Americans can also cash in a payout of up to $5,000 from a $1 million data breach settlement.

The money is being handed out by MarineMax to settle claims that it compromised sensitive information, after failing to prevent a data breach in 2024.

The deadline for a valid claim form is June 13.
