Mike Krzyzewski proud of Duke successor, former player Jon Scheyer taking Blue Devils back to Final Four ...0

News by : (SATURDAY DOWN SOUTH) -

Mike Krzyzewski is proud to see Duke back in the Final Four under his successor, Jon Scheyer.

Duke last made the Final Four in 2022, the final season of Coach K’s legendary tenure. The Blue Devils came up short of a national championship, losing to North Carolina in the first-ever NCAA Tournament meeting of the storied rivalry.

In Scheyer’s first 2 seasons, Duke reached the Round of 32 and the Elite 8. In 2025, Scheyer was able to get over the hump and take the Blue Devils back to the Final Four.

Speaking on SiriusXM, Krzyzewski said he’s proud of Scheyer for doing things his way while maintaining the culture in Durham.

“When he took over he wasn’t going to do everything exactly the way we did it,” Krzyzewski said. “But he was going to run Duke’s program the way we did with the culture, the brotherhood and be himself. I’m proud of him.”

Scheyer will coach his first Final Four on Saturday night when Duke takes on Houston.
