Everything we know about missing twin sisters in Aberdeen – a timeline ...Middle East

News by : (inews) -

The sisters, originally from Hungary, were last seen on CCTV on Market Street at Victoria Bridge in Aberdeen at around 2.12am on Tuesday 7 January.

Officers are keeping an open mind about what has happened to Eliza and Henrietta, but said there is no indication a third party was involved, and there is nothing to suggest criminality.

“What we know is that the behaviour of the sisters in the morning on which they disappeared is very out of character,” Superintendent David Howieson told a press conference on Tuesday.

Here is everything we know so far about Eliza and Henrietta, and a timeline of the days leading up to their disappearance.

She said her sisters were very close and did most things together.

Early January

The sisters had lived together in a flat in the centre of Aberdeen after moving to Scotland around seven years ago.

Mr Howieson told the press on Tuesday: “There was an indication from the person from whom they rent a flat who had concerns that they left the flat and indicated they intended to move.

He added that the two had appeared to have been “happily living this life in Aberdeen” while “working, socialising with friends and keeping in touch with family in an entirely normal manner”.

The area was covered in snow and ice after a spell of bitterly cold weather last week.

“What we do know is that, at the moment, CCTV provides that they entered a footpath adjacent to the River Dee and we have no trace of them leaving that footpath yet,” Mr Howieson said.

They were both wearing dark-coloured trousers with one of the sisters wearing a cream coat and the other a blue jacket.

Mr Howieson explained there is nothing to suggest anything suspicious or that a third party was involved in the sisters’ disappearance, but did say they “may have come to harm”.

“They may have come to harm. That has to be a theory in terms of access to the river. But what we don’t have is any indication that a third party has been involved.”

“And that’s why so much of our search activity is focused on the river, the river bank, and the harbour itself, but we’re not ruling out the fact that they may have left this area by means that we haven’t identified yet.”

Where is the investigation focused?

Officers spoke to pedestrians and motorists in the area to try and shed more light on their movements.

On Tuesday officers searched the Boat House area near Duthie Park.

What has their family said?

“This has been a very worrying and upsetting time for our family,” the statement read.

“If you think you might have any information which could help the police with finding Eliza and Henrietta, then please pass this on as quickly as you can.

“We appreciate all the support our family has been given over the past few days and we would like our privacy to be respected at this time.”
