The search for Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, twin sisters who went missing in Aberdeen, has now entered its second week.
The sisters, originally from Hungary, were last seen on CCTV on Market Street at Victoria Bridge in Aberdeen at around 2.12am on Tuesday 7 January.
Both aged 32, the women are part of a set of triplets and are both described as white and of slim build with long, brown hair.
Officers are keeping an open mind about what has happened to Eliza and Henrietta, but said there is no indication a third party was involved, and there is nothing to suggest criminality.
Friends have described them as a hard-working pair who did not drink or take drugs.
“What we know is that the behaviour of the sisters in the morning on which they disappeared is very out of character,” Superintendent David Howieson told a press conference on Tuesday.
“We’re trying to remain open-minded in terms of what the wider circumstances may have been.”
Here is everything we know so far about Eliza and Henrietta, and a timeline of the days leading up to their disappearance.
Edit Huszti, Eliza and Henrietta’s third triplet, said she spoke to her sisters on New Year’s Eve, describing them as happy and cheerful over the video call, according to BBC News.
She said her sisters were very close and did most things together.
Police Scotland said there was nothing to suggest any mental health concerns in relation to the sisters which might explain what happened.
Early January
The sisters had lived together in a flat in the centre of Aberdeen after moving to Scotland around seven years ago.
Their landlord had raised the alarm about their disappearance after they were meant to have left their tenancy just days before going missing.
Mr Howieson told the press on Tuesday: “There was an indication from the person from whom they rent a flat who had concerns that they left the flat and indicated they intended to move.
“So inquiries were carried out at the flat, and the circumstances that were found led to concern around their whereabouts, which was then important to the police.”
He added that the two had appeared to have been “happily living this life in Aberdeen” while “working, socialising with friends and keeping in touch with family in an entirely normal manner”.
7 January
CCTV footage shows the pair walking across Aberdeen’s Victoria Bridge before turning right onto a footpath next to the River Dee, and heading in the direction of the Aberdeen Boat Club.
The area was covered in snow and ice after a spell of bitterly cold weather last week.
“What we do know is that, at the moment, CCTV provides that they entered a footpath adjacent to the River Dee and we have no trace of them leaving that footpath yet,” Mr Howieson said.

They were both wearing dark-coloured trousers with one of the sisters wearing a cream coat and the other a blue jacket.
The women were described by their family as sociable, but not known to go out much, especially in the early hours of the morning.
Mr Howieson explained there is nothing to suggest anything suspicious or that a third party was involved in the sisters’ disappearance, but did say they “may have come to harm”.
He said: “We’re remaining open minded, but we’re seven days into an inquiry with an enormous amount of inquiry carried out, and at the moment, there’s nothing we’ve found that suggests criminality or suspicious circumstances.
“They may have come to harm. That has to be a theory in terms of access to the river. But what we don’t have is any indication that a third party has been involved.”
“One of our theories has to be that they’ve entered the water for reasons unknown,” Mr Howieson added.
“And that’s why so much of our search activity is focused on the river, the river bank, and the harbour itself, but we’re not ruling out the fact that they may have left this area by means that we haven’t identified yet.”
Where is the investigation focused?
Police Scotland have extended their intense search operations around the River Dee and down to the coast, using specialist advisors, divers, helicopters and search dogs.
Officers spoke to pedestrians and motorists in the area to try and shed more light on their movements.

On Tuesday officers searched the Boat House area near Duthie Park.
What has their family said?
The sisters’ family released a statement on Monday appealing to anyone with any information that could help in the search to come forward.
“This has been a very worrying and upsetting time for our family,” the statement read.
“We are really worried about Eliza and Henrietta and all we want is for them to be found.
“If you think you might have any information which could help the police with finding Eliza and Henrietta, then please pass this on as quickly as you can.
“We appreciate all the support our family has been given over the past few days and we would like our privacy to be respected at this time.”
