Hawaii to New York in Los Angeles on 8 November and vanished days later after sending "alarming" texts to her family.
Her father Ryan retraced her footsteps with relatives and volunteers, but was found dead in a car park near a Los Angeles airport on 24 November.
The Maui native was spotted a day later at The Grove for a LeBron James event, with family members saying they received concerning texts from her.
She was then seen at the Pico Metro Station near Crypto.com Arena around 10 p.m. on Nov. 11 with an unknown person. 
L.A. to look for her, they stated publicly that they believed Hannah had possibly been harmed by another person.    
McDonnell misreported that Kobayashi is 23 years old, rather than 30, and members of Kobayashi's family, who had been posting updates on a Facebook page, complainted they were not contacted by the LAPD prior to McDonnell's statement.
The Facebook page that was focused on the search efforts was taken down.
On Sunday, Nov. 24, police said they found Kobayashi's father, Ryan, dead by suicide near LAX, after he had traveled to Los Angeles from Hawaii to assist in the search efforts.
New York. Hannah responded no, her sister said. She also sent messages to a friend saying she didn’t feel safe, and someone was trying to steal her identity and funds, according to screenshots her sister sent to CNN.
“Deep Hackers wiped my identity, stole all of my funds, & have had me on a mind f**k since Friday,” one message to a friend said.
Another message said, “I got tricked pretty much into giving away all my funds,” followed by one saying, “For someone I thought I loved.”
On November 15, the LAPD missing persons unit made a poster about Hannah’s disappearance, saying she was last seen at the airport. It said she has freckles on her face and a tattoo on her forearm.
On November 17, in a statement posted to Facebook, Sydni Kobayashi said the family had obtained surveillance footage showing her sister around the downtown Metro train station near Crypto.com Arena, although it was unclear exactly when the footage was taken.
In the footage, Hannah is not alone and “does not appear to be in good condition,” the family wrote on Facebook, saying they are unable to share further details.
