Chelsea vs Club America 3-0

Chelsea won the match against Club America with a score of 3-0. This game marked Chelsea's first win under the management of Enzo Maresca, with notable performances including a penalty scored by Madueke and goals from Guiu and Nkunku.

The Argentine midfielder videoed himself and his teammates singing a racist song after winning the Copa America, which angered many in the Blues dressing-room.

However, the player has now met up with the rest of the first team and has apologised for his actions with the case closed.

Christopher Nkunku converted a penalty after a couple of minutes and Marc Guiu then got off the mark in a Chelsea shirt with a flicked header, before Noni Madueke’s spot-kick with ten minutes remaining put the match to bed.

The early penalty from Nkunku came after a driving run from Lavia, who replays suggested was fortunate to be awarded the decision for what looked suspiciously like a dive. The Blues got to the byline time and time again, with only poor finishing preventing a first-half rout. There was at least a second goal before the break, as Dewsbury-Hall clipped a cross to the near post, and Guiu got across the goalkeeper to head home.

Club América who await us — another team in better physical condition than us at the moment, which has been used as an excuse for some of our poor play this preseason thus far.

So let’s hope things go a little better today. It’s not about the result; it never is. But we need to start showing some coherence and quality both on and off the ball if we are to start engendering some confidence for the season ahead. We’re now more than halfway through preseason, the time for excuses is almost over.

Enzo Fernandez and Filip Jorgensen were both introduced at half-time, for a second-half that lacked the same intensity. Armando Broja missed a massive chance to make it three, failing to hit the target when clean through on goal, but Chelsea did not have to wait long Nkunku showed wonderful footwork to dance into the box and around the goalkeeper, drawing the contact on his way to win Chelsea’s second penalty of the night.
