In a few short days, the back and forth as to where exactly Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo will go this NFL Draft will be over.
What isn’t up for debate, though, is what an NFL team is getting out of the running back.
“He plays with violence and vision. He breaks a lot of tackles,” ESPN analyst and former NFL GM Mike Tannebaum told Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta on Monday. “I think he’s going to have a great career. If you like football, you like Cam Skattebo.”
Skattebo showed plenty of what Tannenbaum referenced in his final year at Arizona State.
Across 13 games, Skattebo racked up 1,711 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on 293 carries. He was first in the Big 12 for rushing yards and carries. Skattebo only trailed UCF’s R.J. Harvey (22) in touchdowns.

The 5-foot-9, 219-pounder also contributed as a pass catcher behind 45 catches for 605 yards and three scores. Can’t forget about his 42-yard touchdown pass in ASU’s Peach Bowl loss to Texas, either.
Skattebo continued his ascension up draft boards this year with a solid showing at the NFL Draft Combine, highlighted by a 39.5-inch vertical and 10-foot-3 broad jump.
He’s since had top 30 visits with the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans.
Where does ESPN’s Mike Tannebaum see Cam Skattebo going this NFL Draft?
Despite Skattebo’s tape, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. told Bickley & Marotta last week that the running back remains a “hard one to project” this draft and could be a late Day 2 or early Day 3 pick.
As for where Tannebaum sees Skattebo landing come the draft?
“I think he maybe goes bottom of the second (round), top of the third,” Tannenbaum said. “If I was taking him, that’s the beginning of the story, not the end of it.”
