Chase Center. After a brief stint in the G League, Poole had shown tremendous growth and improvement in his game. The young shooting guard had become a force to be reckoned with, and his return to the Golden State Warriors was met with great excitement.
As he stepped onto the court, memories of his rookie season flooded back. It was clear that Poole had matured both physically and mentally during his time away. His confidence radiated through every move he made on the court, leaving fans in awe of his skill and determination.
Seemingly loose and light-hearted, and of course wearing his signature hoodie, Poole smiled as he made the rounds of hellos and hugs during his return to Chase Center on Friday night to face his former team.
Poole hit the first basket of the game on an 18-foot jumper then missed his next five attempts before a driving layup at the 9:39 mark of the second quarter. He went 0 of 5 from from deep before connecting.
The Warriors also presented Poole with a tribute video before the game. He was met by a rousing applause from the sellout crowd during pregame introductions.
Poole and Looney have been his “right-hand man” since they faced off as high schoolers in the city championship in Milwaukee, he said.
“He’s the person I’m the closest with,” Poole said. “He’s always had my back. I love that guy. I told him as soon as I saw him, I need the jersey. But we talk all the time, we chop it up. That relationship means a lot to me, just because he helped me my entire time here.”
That jersey trade with Looney, that Kerr moment, that thankful message on the jumbotron — Poole will forget his shooting line long before he forgets them.
“It was really special,” Poole said. “Thankful for Dub Nation. Not many people can say they got a ring here. Pretty cool, pretty special. Definitely something I’ll remember.”
Chase Center marked a turning point for both him and the Golden State Warriors. His growth as a player and leader has elevated him to new heights, making him an invaluable asset to the team. As fans watched him dominate on the court once again, they couldn't help but feel excited about what lay ahead for this talented young player.
