Il y a une « multiplication des menaces, y compris sous la forme de procédures judiciaires contre des lanceurs d’alerte, membres de mouvements citoyens, organisations de la société civile et des partis politiques » en RDC. C'est le constat du Bureau conjoint des Nations unies aux droits de l’Homme (BCNUDH) pour le premier semestre de cette année 2021. Signe de la persistance de ces dérives : le coordonnateur d’un mouvement citoyen a entamé, dimanche 8 aout, une vie de clandestinité à cause des menaces de mort reçues depuis qu’il a émis des critiques sur la gouvernance du pays. Une affaire qui illustre le climat de menaces contre les militants.
