Ratha Jatra 2021: ‘Adhara Pana’ Ritual of Trinity Held at Puri

The ‘Adhara Pana’ ritual of the Trinity- Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra was held in Puri on Thursday. The deities were offered a sweet drink called ‘Adhara Pana.’ The drink is offered to the deities atop their charriots in earthen pitchers. After that, the pitchers are broken so that the drink spills and is consumed by evil spirits, as per the custom. The ritual took place in the absence of devotees due to Covid-19 restrictions.
