Republican Yemen 15 Yemeni civil society organizations and rights groups condemned on Thursday a death sentence issued by a Houthi-controlled court against rights activists Zafaran Zaid and her husband. In a joint statement, the 15 civil and rights organizations denounced the verdict, noting that it is a blatant violation against women working in defending human rights. “We strongly condemn the death sentence issued by Houthis against Zafaran,” they said. “It is high time Houthis stopped committing violations against human rights workers.” They called on the international community and the UN to protect Yemeni women working in the field of human rights from the arbitrary practices of Houthis
