Abu Dhabi: A new study by New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) and New York University has used computational modelling to assess the biological significance of spike protein mutations on the COVID-19 virus, and has uncovered versions that bind more tightly or resist antibodies better.  The study therefore offers a promising public health surveillance tool, researchers said. Spike proteins protrude from the surface of the Sars-CoV-2 virus, allowing it to latch on to cells to infect them.
