Building a new store is hard, but it’s impossible when government is constantly shifting the rules under your feet. As the owners of a chain of hardware stores on Long Island, we have experience overcoming the hurdles that stand between purchasing property and getting permission to build. But the town of Southold has thrown us for a loop, trying to stop our new store by taking our property through eminent domain. It’s wrong, it’s unconstitutional, and we’re suing for the right to keep our property and one day open our store.
