The complicated war between Brooklyn Surrogate Judge Harriet Thompson and Brooklyn Public Administrator Rick Buckheit laid out in Monday’s paper by reporter Noah Goldberg is an epic embarrassment, and one that only exists because of the monumentally stupid structure, prescribed by state law, of Surrogate Court, which oversees wills and estates as well as adoptions.
