Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Administrative Service Association (OASA) today called off its cease-work agitation following the arrest of BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan in connection with the recent assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo.
The OAS officers had launched the agitation demanding immediate action against Pradhan, who was named as the prime accused in the FIR lodged by Sahoo at Kharvelnagar Police Station.
The BJP leader surrendered before the Commissionerate Police and was subsequently arrested.
The OASA had earlier written to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, pressing for Pradhan’s arrest and expressing grave concern over the safety of officers discharging public duties.
This heinous act is a stark reminder of the risks and vulnerabilities faced by our members in the line of duty. The incident, which occurred in broad daylight, is not only an assault on an individual officer but a direct attack on the dignity and sanctity of public service in the State, the OASA said.
With Pradhan’s arrest, the OASA has decided to resume official duties.
