Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja received a warning from the on-field umpire for running down on the pitch on Day 2 of the ongoing second Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England at Edgbaston. The incident happened in the 86th over of India’s first innings on July 3.
England seamer Chris Woakes bowled a 128 km/h delivery on a good length outside off stump. Jadeja tapped it gently into the off-side, but the Indian captain, Shubman Gill, refused to run for a single, asking the seasoned all-rounder to take back his crease.

Before the next delivery was bowled by Woakes, the on-field umpire Sharfuddoula, approached Jadeja and asked him to be careful while running between the wickets. Actually, the Indian all-rounder had come too close to the danger area on the pitch after playing a shot on the previous delivery at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.

This area is protected to avoid damage to the playing surface, especially for bowlers later in the game. However, Jadeja escaped from the penalty, but the umpire Sharfuddoula gave a gentle warning to the Indian left-arm spinner to avoid doing it again.
Also, ahead of the start of the 90th over, England skipper Ben Stokes was engaged in a heated chat with Ravindra Jadeja over the India all-rounder running on the pitch.
