McLaren has taken another dazzling trip down memory lane with the launch of a shimmering new chrome livery – dubbed Legacy at Speed – set to daze fans at this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
The team rolled out the eye-catching design on Wednesday during a high-energy fan event, McLaren Racing Live: London, held at Trafalgar Square.
It marks the third time in as many seasons that McLaren has tapped into its chrome-themed heritage, reigniting nostalgia for the much-loved colour scheme that defined the team’s look between 2006 and 2014.
This year’s iteration continues McLaren’s creative collaboration with Google Chrome, blending the legacy of the past with a modern digital twist.
“We know that, while we have millions of fans who have been with the McLaren Formula 1 Team for decades, there are millions more who are new to the sport and the team,” said McLaren Racing chief marketing officer Louise McEwen.
“Being able to celebrate and showcase our long history with the help of Chrome is a fantastic way of bringing these newer fans on the journey with us.
“To celebrate with so many of our fans in London this week as we get ready for our home race makes it even more special!”

The livery, which will feature on the cars of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, is designed to merge McLaren’s storied F1 legacy with the sleek, modern branding of Google Chrome.
But it’s not just the cars getting a makeover either – both drivers will don custom all-black race suits with the unmistakable Google Chrome colours running down the sides.

“Google Chrome is proud to join McLaren for McLaren Racing Live: London at Trafalgar Square to reveal the iconic Chrome livery,” said Adrienne Lofton, vice president of global product and integrated marketing at Google.
“Google Chrome provides unparalleled speed and performance to McLaren and consumers worldwide. We’re excited to help bring the Paddock energy to fans in advance of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.”
With the British Grand Prix being McLaren’s home race, expectations are high – particularly for Lando Norris. The Briton has scored back-to-back podiums at Silverstone and arrives just 15 points adrift of teammate Oscar Piastri in the drivers' standings after his outstanding win last weekend in Austria.

The stage is perfectly set for Norris to finally clinch that elusive home victory, now with a flash of chrome in his corner.
Whether it’s speed, style, or sentimentality, McLaren is bringing all three in full force this weekend. Fans at Silverstone – and around the world –+ will be watching to see if Legacy at Speed also means glory at home.
