Former Suns head coach Frank Vogel is finalizing a deal with the Dallas Mavericks to become their lead assistant, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Vogel, 52, will join Jason Kidd’s staff in Dallas. While with the Los Angeles Lakers, Kidd worked as an assistant coach on Vogel’s staff from 2019 through 2021, and the pair won a championship together in 2020.
Vogel will step in for Sean Sweeney as Dallas’ lead assistant after Sweeney was hired by the San Antonio Spurs as their associate head coach.
Last season, Vogel worked with the Mavericks as a coaching consultant after he was fired by the Suns.
