Two of the biggest entertainment franchises in British history—the Beatles and Harry Potter—now have a common thread.
Apple Corps Ltd., the company that oversees the Beatles creative and business interests, announced on Tuesday, July 1 that British executive Tom Greene will be its new CEO starting on Sept. 25.

Greene’s previous experience includes top operating roles for the Harry Potter franchise, including spearheading Pottermore Publishing and Wizarding World Digital, a joint venture between Warner Bros. and Pottermore. Under Greene’s watch, the Harry Potter Fan Club has grown to include 50 million members thanks to immersive digital experiences. Greene remains on the board of Pottermore.
His appointment to Apple comes as the company is gearing up for the April 2028 release of four Beatles films through Sony Pictures Entertainment and Neal Street Productions. Directed bySam Mendes, written by Jez Butterworth, Jack Thorne and Peter Straughan, the films will star Harris Dickinson (John Lennon), Barry Keoghan (Ringo Starr), Paul Mescal (Paul McCartney) and Joseph Quinn (George Harrison).

In recent years, special editions of several of the band’s albums have been released, including Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles (White Album), Abbey Road, Let It Be, and Revolver. The group has also been the subject of recent documentaries, including Peter Jackson’s 2021 acclaimed Get Back docuseries.
