It’s trading time! The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction is months away. But the shuffling of players won’t stop. IPL 2026 Player Trading Window
The first trade window will begin from 9 AM IST a week after the IPL 2025 season ends (June 10) until 5 PM IST of a week before the IPL 2026 auction. The second trade window will begin from the next day of the IPL 2026 auction until 5 PM IST a month before the IPL 2026 season starts.IPL 2026 Player Trading Rules
Players who are bought at the auction aren’t eligible for trading. If an overseas player is being traded, the franchise has to obtain an NOC from the respective cricket board. No separate payment can be made to the player being traded or the franchise he represents. The buying franchise has the responsibility to check whether the player being traded is fit and can ask the player to undergo a medical examination before signing the required documents. No limit on number of players being traded between the two windows but franchises should adhere to salary cap and squad composition regulations. A player can be traded once in between the end of IPL 2025 and start of IPL 2026 If a player worth Rs 15 crore is being traded, for example, the buying team’s salary purse will be decrease by Rs 15 crore while the selling team’s purse will increase by the same amount. If more than one franchise is interested in a player, the selling franchise can negotiate with the interested franchises.
