Drake loses eye-watering $200,000 on Ilia Topuria vs Charles Oliveira bet

Drake lost six figures betting on Charles Oliveira.

The Canadian rapper placed $200,000 on Oliveira to defeat Ilia Topuria in the UFC 317 main event.

“Brazil I love you and I owe you,” Drake captioned a picture of his betting slip. “Betting on Brazil.”

Oliveira entered the contest as a sizeable +440 underdog, which would have netted Drake a return of $880,000.

However, the Brazilian superstar was flattened by a booming right hand in the opening stanza, much to the dismay of the five-time Grammy award winner, who hasn’t had the best of times with combat sports wagers in recent years.

Last August, Drake dropped $450,000 by picking Israel Adesanya to overcome Dricus du Plessis, while three months later, he burned through $355,000 when he absurdly backed Mike Tyson to upset Jake Paul.

He made back those losses in April with a punt on Alexander Volkanovski.

Drake bet $545,000 on the Aussie to beat Diego Lopes at UFC 314 and received a healthy $915,600 return.

But he is straight back in the red thanks to Topuria.

In victory, the Spaniard picked up the UFC lightweight title and extended his unbeaten record to 17-0.

He is now the first undefeated fighter to become champion in two weight classes, after previously reigning supreme over the featherweight division.

In the immediate aftermath of his destructive victory, Topuria got into a heated altercation with Paddy Pimblett in the cage.

After an X-rated exchange, Topuria shoved Pimblett as security stepped in to separate the bitter rivals.

The expectation is that Topuria will make the first defence of his 155lbs belt against No.1 contender Arman Tsarukyan.

However, UFC brass may choose to match Topuria up against No.8-rated Pimblett for the storyline.

Both men haven’t seen eye to eye since their scuffle at a UFC London event in 2022.

Topuria threw a punch at Pimblett in a hotel lobby after the Liverpudlian bounced a bottle of hand sanitiser off his head.

Since then, both men have established themselves as elite competitors, and after their latest back-and-forth, MMA fans will no doubt be clamouring for the fight.
