CAITLIN CLARK has missed more games this season than in her career to date – and there are fears her injuries could persist long-term.
The Indiana Fever star has been key to the team’s success this season, and they have lost three of the six games without Clark.
The Guard has had a stop-start season because of fitness issues – something which has never troubled her before in her career.
Clark, 23, failed to miss a game throughout her college career with Iowa Hawkeyes.
She followed up that unblemished record by featuring in every game in her rookie season with the Fever.
There are now concerns she could experience long-term injury issues because of the physical treatment she receives from opponents.
Fans are a little worried for the WNBA star, with one saying: “She’s getting abused out there.”
Another added: “Maybe because the league is allowing players to physically abuse her.”
A third wrote: “This is what happens when you allow the face of the league and the golden goose to get manhandled every night. The WNBA doesn’t deserve her.”
And another commented: “Well being the face of the league and by far most prolific WNBA player we’ve ever seen getting abused while the refs turn a blind eye night in and night out probably explains it.”
Clark’s absence is not just a problem for the Fever, but the League.
Ticket prices have plummeted since her spell on the sidelines began, with fewer eyeballs tuning in.
Friday’s matchup between the Dallas Wings and Indiana Fever was set to be a marquee event.
It was the first meeting of 2024 No. 1 overall pick Clark and 2025 No. 1 overall pick Paige Buckers.
On Thursday morning, get-in prices for the game were around $190, according to SeatGeek.
Now, those tickets have taken a 40 percent drop to $115.
