GREECE, N.Y. — Officers in Greece say a call for a fight lead to a Leandra’s Law and drug arrest.
What happened:
The call came in around 4:41 p.m. on Thursday for a fight in the parking lot on Greece Ridge Center Drive. Once police got to the scene and were able to investigate, they say 33-year-old Daniel G. Busch was driving while on cocaine and fentanyl.
One other person was in the car with Busch, along with a 5-month-old baby according to police. That’s what warranted the Leandra’s Law charge.
After officers arrested Busch, they say they found 32 vials of cocaine and other substances in containers that tested positive for fentanyl.
Busch faces the following charges:
Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree Leandra’s Law (Felony DWAI drugs combined) Driving while ability impaired by drugs Driving while ability impaired by combination of substances Aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree Domestic endangering the welfare of a childBusch was brought to Monroe County Jail for arraignment in CAP Court.
What is Leandra’s Law?
Otherwise known at the Child Passenger Protection Act, Leandra’s Law lists specific charges for drivers under the influence with children in the car. It became law in 2009 in NYS after an 11-year-old girl named Leandra who was killed in a car. The driver was a friend’s mother, and she was drunk.
