Sonora, CA— A man threatens to stab a family as he followed them to their vehicle while at a local skateboard park.
Yesterday, Sonora Police Department officers arrested 51-year-old Sonora homeless man Eric Z. Hicks following the investigation of criminal threats stemming from an incident at Heaven for Kids park on Greenley Road.
Just before 1:30 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Our dispatch call center received a report that a man at the park threatened to stab a woman and her family at the Heaven for Kids park on Greenley Road. At the time of the report, all involved parties had left the park.
The couple reported to officers that they were at the park watching their child play but decided to leave when they heard Hicks yelling and cursing nearby. As they walked through the parking lot, Hicks reportedly began advancing toward the family and threatened to stab the woman, her husband, and their toddler.
