Cher’s Son Elijahs Ex Pleads for Financial Support After Hospitalization

Cher’s troubled son Elijah Blue Allman’s estranged wife, Marieangela King, revealed her dire financial situation as she pleads for support in their divorce, Us Weekly can exclusively report.

On June 20, musician King, 37, filed an income and expense declaration, which revealed she is currently unemployed. She said 2009 was the last time she worked.

King said she was unaware of Allman’s current income and would need a forensic accountant to determine the income available support.

She listed her monthly income as zero and her average monthly income as the same. She said she had $3,651 in cash and in the bank. She said she had no stocks or bonds or assets she could easily sell.

She said the value of her property was to be determined after the court rules on community property.

In her filing, King said her monthly expenses include $5,000 on rent, $500 on healthcare, $1,500 on groceries, $500 on eating out, $600 on utilities, $100 on laundry, $200 on clothing, $300 on auto expenses and $3,000 on entertainment.

The grand total of her monthly bills comes to $12,000.

She said that during the marriage they enjoyed a “high standard of living” that included trips to Europe in five-star hotels, living in Beverly Hills and a family home in Malibu, had access to private pools, gym, chefs, therapists and dined at Nobu and Chateau Marmont. She said, “I’ve flown on private planes, flown first & business class and stayed at the mansion in Vegas.”

She said, “The entertainment market is difficult. I have not been able to develop my career while supporting my husband and his families (sic) priorities especially under such a high profile magnifier and given no specific support to do so.”

King added, “I need support to pay rent and cover my basic needs and money to seek further education and employment in order to become self supporting.” She said she put her career on hold since 2009 to attend to domestic duties and support Allman’s career.

She said Allman, 48, had the funds to support her. She said he received consistent money from his father’s estate, regular income from his family’s business, royalties and income from his own music, support from his mom, Cher, and various other sources.

“[Allman] also had unilateral access to cash withdrawals and distributions during the marriage. To date, I have not received any accountings, documentation, or disclosures concerning these funds,” she explained.

    Allman has yet to respond.

King filed for divorce on April 8 after a failed reconciliation attempt. The two wed in December 2013 and she said they split on March 31. The two have no children.

In her filing, King listed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the marriage ending. She asked the court to order Allman to pay her $6,000 a month in temporary spousal support and cut off his right to collect any form of support from her.

King also asked that the spousal support be retroactive from the date of her filing. She claimed her ex had the ability to pay the support requested.

In addition, she asked the Los Angeles Superior Court judge to award her exclusive use of their marital home and a 2017 Toyota Prius.

King said if Allman kept the car, she would need $2,000 for a down payment on a car and another $500 per month, on top of the requested $6,000, to pay for the lease.

She also asked for $10,000 to help cover her legal fees.

The divorce comes after Allman dismissed a separate divorce he filed against King in early 2024. He filed the case in 2021, but it dragged on for years.

King spoke to People about the split in April. She said, “We had a beautiful 13-year journey, filled with memories I’ll always cherish. I know we’ll remain friends, and Elijah will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Cher Files for Conservatorship of Son Elijah Allman

As Us previously reported, Cher, 79, attempted to have her son placed under a conservatorship last year. She feared her son was using his inheritance from his late father/musician, Gregg Allman, on drugs.

Cher’s lawyer said, “Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from a trust established by his father for his benefit, but given his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues, [Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”

In court, Allman denied he needed a conservator. He claimed he was able to manage his finances and said he had been sober for a period of time. The case was dismissed without Allman being placed under a conservatorship.

Earlier this month, Allman reportedly suffered an overdose at Joshua Tree, California, and was rushed to a hospital. TMZ reported he was released from the hospital this week. The outlet said sources said Cher was concerned about her son’s “well-being.”
