ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Just over a month ago, a requirement began in New York where in order to fly within the U.S., people needed to use a passport or have a REAL ID or Enhanced Drivers License.

According to Walt McClure, the director of public information with the New York DMV, more than seven million New Yorkers have REAL ID compliant ID’s.
McClure says another 12 million New Yorkers have passports and that New York is 50% compliant.
Back in May when the requirement came into effect, it was reported only 40% of New Yorkers had a REAL ID or enhanced license.
Over 7 million New Yorkers now have REAL ID compliant ID’s WHEC.com.
