The future of the British monarchy is taking shape, and according to royal experts, Prince William's vision for his reign may not include roles for his brother's children. Multiple insiders suggest that Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, are unlikely to become working royals once their uncle ascends to the throne.
Prince William has been actively planning his eventual reign since becoming heir following Queen Elizabeth II's death in September 2022. The 43-year-old future king, who has long championed a streamlined monarchy, is reportedly developing his own blueprint for the next generation of royal service.
Royal expert Kinsey Schofield toldFox News Digitalthat expectations for the Sussex children to have royal roles are "utterly absurd" and border on "delusion." She emphasized that "these are American children who've been raised oceans away from the monarchy, with no exposure to the customs, culture, or continuity that define royal life."

The Times UKreported that "under the next reign, roles for Archie and Lili as working royals are unlikely," despite Prince Harry's apparent desire to preserve their HRH titles so they can choose their own paths when older.
British broadcaster Helena Chard described the possibility as "ludicrous," noting the children "are being raised in America and do not have any understanding of the British royal family." She questioned why Harry and Meghan would even want royal roles for their children, given their decision to step back and their subsequent criticisms of the institution.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams noted that while it would be "simple" for the sovereign to remove HRH titles, William will be "well aware of the probable effect and vast, often adverse publicity" such a move would generate.
