“I mean, look, it’s always hanging out there. I think there’s a reason we did it for 15 years. We enjoyed it, we enjoyed each other, we enjoyed the story, the characters. It was hard to hang it up. But I don’t know that we ever hang it up in Supernatural, so we’ll see,” he expressed.
Supernatural fans know that Ackles’ character, Dean, died at the end of the series. However, fans of the series also know that nothing is off the table regarding how to bring Dean back to the show.
There may be no official word on a reboot of Supernatural, but a mini-reunion is happening on The Boys Season 5. Ackles teased that there was a bit of concern when The Boys and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke brought up the idea of bringing Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins into the mix.
“It was funny because there was a little like concern that we’re gonna get Jared and Misha and Jensen together and it’s gonna be, it’s gonna be a little wacky, because 15 years together, we got a little, we got a little off. There’s a lot of history, but it was also a house that we built, and we were able to destroy it the way we wanted to. And, so I had to kind of remind them, ‘Hey guys, this isn’t our house. You gotta behave. Jared, you’ve gotta flush the toilet, you’ve gotta flush the toilet.’ No, but it was a really good time,” Ackles shared with Jimmy Fallon.
The actor didn’t reveal how Padalecki and Collins play into the new season. Supernatural fans will also have to wait quite a while to see the three guys on the small screen againas The Boys Season 5 isn’t slated to premiere until 2026.
In the meantime, fans can get their Ackles fix in his new series Countdown, which also stars Grey’s Anatomy alum Eric Dane.
Countdown premieres Thursday, June 25, on Prime Video.
