Everything is coming up trumps for Keegan Bradley.
After a thrilling victory at the Travelers Championship on Sunday, Bradley is aiming to do something that no golfer has done since Arnold Palmer in 1963.
He could be on course to be both a player and captain of Team USA in the Ryder Cup this fall.
In a chat with talkSPORT’s Hawksbee & Jacobs, Hall of Fame golfer Dame Laura Davies questioned whether Bradley would be able to handle both roles and dove into the challenges that he could face.
“Back then, there was a lot less for captains to do,” Davies explained.
“So I could see a captain playing back in those days, but now with all the huge media coverage and all their commitments, and it’s huge commitments.
“I’ve been a vice captain on the Solheim Cup a few times, and I see how much a captain has to do during the week.
“Obviously the buildup, that doesn’t matter, but during the week there’s so much going on. I don’t think you can play and be a captain.
“I think, at best, he’ll have to rely on one of his vice captains. Probably the obvious ones, Jim Furyk, to kind of take the role of all the press conferences and all the demands on the captain.
“I think it’s good for the European team if he is the playing captain. He should just be a player and maybe let one of the other guys do most of the captaincy.”
It’s clear that Davies has her doubts.
The name Tiger Woods was then thrown out there as a possible replacement if Bradley were to give up his captain role.

“I don’t think Tiger would like to be the captain in those circumstances,” Davies said.
“The reason you have those vice captains, and you choose them carefully, is because you know that, they can step in if need be, at any given time.
“Jim’s already been the captain once before. I’m assuming his other vice captains are the ones we’ve known before, Freddy Couples, possibly I don’t know who he’s chosen, but I know Jim’s there and he would be the obvious one for me.”
Woods is one of the most competitive athletes in all of sports and isn’t the type to accept handouts.
As of now, Bradley wants to keep his captaincy and play in the Ryder Cup.
The event takes place at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, in late September this year.
The top six in USA’s rankings automatically make the team, while Bradley will draft six more for a total of 12 members.
The current six are Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun, Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau, and Justin Thomas.
Bradley is ninth, but of course can always select himself — something he said he wouldn’t do, but may change his mind about as the chance to follow in Palmer’s footsteps draws nearer.
His vice captains, along with Furyk, are Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson, and Brandt Snedeker.
Luke Donald is the captain for Team Europe.
