SEC baseball not only earned bragging rights yet again in Omaha in 2025, it now has bragging rights in the history of college baseball.
When LSU defeated Coastal Carolina for the 2nd straight day and captured the 8th national title in program history on Sunday, it was also the SEC’s 6th straight national championship in baseball. It isn’t just a remarkable accomplishment, it’s historical, because no conference in the history of college baseball had ever won 6 national titles in a row — until Sunday, when the SEC became the only league to ever do it.
LSU is the owner of 2 of those 6 straight titles going back to 2019. The Tigers also won it all just 2 years ago. Tennessee won the crown in 2024 in between the 2 LSU championships.
Vanderbilt started this run of championship excellence back in 2019. There was no 2020 national champion because of the COVID-19 pandemic. When the College World Series resumed in 2021, the SEC went right back to its winning ways, with Mississippi State capturing the title. Ole Miss followed in 2022 with a national title of its own before LSU won it all in 2023.
